Participative art mediation with audio guides

arcs audio has produced audio guides for museums and exhibitions since 2017. The founder, Saskia Riedel, wants to build bridges with you: between speakers and listeners and not least between people and art. She creates listening experiences, which are used via Web-Apps and visually integrated in the museum’s communications, together with a network of professionals.

Art mediation needs more than facts and participation begins with talking about art.

What has art actually got to do with me?

What has art actually got to do with me?

Art history-oriented cultural mediation generally has no answer to this question. It offers many facts about artists, contemporary history and art history. It thereby draws attention away from the actual work, word by word. At the same time, the visitors also fall by the wayside, rarely coming up with their own thoughts and ideas (often overwhelmed by this pressure fuelling). arcs audio solves this dilemma. Everyone can look. Continue from there and consider what could be the meaning behind it − this requires confidence. Confidence in your own perception and in the competence to be able to talk about art in the first place.

The magic?

The magic?

This is where Saskia Riedel, freelance curator and art mediator, comes in. She began talking to visitors about works of art and using these talks as a guide for future visitors. These talks are based on appreciation and confidence in the skills of people interested in art. When listening, this is transferred to those who are viewing the work. In this way, arcs audio reduces inhibitions and encourages people to participate in artistic discourse. Museums can thereby assume their role in modern art mediation and thus art can simply have its effect.
